Cowboy mocks “Golden Boy” Conor McGregor

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone couldn’t resist a little dig at Conor McGregor during a recent Q&A session before UFC 185.

McGregor is guaranteed to pop up in most conversations about UFC these days so it was no surprise that Cerrone ended up fielding a question about the cocky Dub, whose trash talking ways have not exactly endeared him to every MMA fan.

Cowboy showed off his mischievous sense of humour when one fan asked him how much he wanted to kick McGregor’s ass.

“Oh no, no, no, no, no,” Cerrone joked.

“You can’t talk about the golden child like that. Come on now. I want to still be employed by the UFC!”

His response shows how quickly McGregor has become one of the UFC’s most marketable fighters and Cerrone paid tribute to his rapid rise as a title contender.

“Conor’s doing a great job. He talked himself right into a title shot, man. Hell yeah! Good job buddy.”

He also defended McGregor by pointing out that he’s a fighter who wins fights and asked what the naysayers would do if he actually takes Jose Aldo’s title.

“Now he’s got a real test. What if he wins? Then you’ve got to shut the fuck up.”

When pressed as to whether he’d take on McGregor in a fight, the genial Lightweight fighter reiterated his trademark mantra about fighting anyone. It’s a tantalising prospect but McGregor will doubtless be anxious to do the business in the Featherweight division before contemplating a move up to Lightweight.

The Q&A then took a surreal turn when the fan asked Cowboy where the toilets are, which is never an appropriate question to ask a UFC star at an occasion like this.

“That’s the first commode question I’ve ever had,” the bemused fighter responded.
